New Jersey III was founded in March 1977 by William F. Hugelmeyer with 86 members at Adventureland Honda in Roselle Park. Today we have approximately 60 members consisting of active and retired Federal, State, County and Local Law Enforcement Officers. The majority of our membership are residents of Union, Middlesex and Essex Counties. New Jersey III is member chapter of the Tri-State Conference consisting of New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania Blue Knights® Clubs.
New Jersey III is a family oriented club. Spouses, children and friends, often accompany our members on the various rides and events. When traveling, local members can provide assistance, directions and sometimes a place to stay. We are truly a family. Among the Blue Knights®, "There are no strangers, only friends you haven't met."
New Jersey III also works to raise money for local charities. Especially important to us are handicapped and underprivileged children. Most of our charitable work is conducted while we are out riding our motorcycles, such as benefit rides and poker runs.
We are often asked "Why do you ride?". Well, no one sums it up better than Joe Janiak and the Shovelheads.
